Baghdad has begun broad security operations ahead of Eid al-Adha, with units from the Ministries of Defence and Interior conducting search and inspection missions across the city centre and surrounding areas. The measures are intended to strengthen security preparedness during the holiday period.
The operations are being carried out with support from intelligence agencies and include armed reconnaissance activities as well as the establishment of sudden checkpoints. Security forces are also tracking targets using technical methods.
Officials said the security units are seeking to raise their readiness level to protect the areas under their responsibility throughout the Eid period. The stepped-up deployment reflects a wider effort to tighten control in and around the capital before the holiday.
