BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The U.S. dollar edged slightly higher against the Iraqi dinar in Baghdad's free market on Wednesday, while the rate in Erbil remained unchanged. In the capital's central exchange markets of Kifach and Harithiyat, 100 dollars traded at 154,200 dinars, up from a Tuesday close of 154,100 dinars, according to a local correspondent reporting from the central exchanges.
At Baghdad currency exchange offices, the selling price for 100 dollars reached 154,750 dinars and the buying price 153,750 dinars. In Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, the selling rate was recorded at 154,150 dinars per 100 dollars and the buying rate at 154,000 dinars, holding steady from the previous session.
The gap between the two cities was measured the same day across the central exchange, money-exchange offices and the free market. The report did not provide an official explanation for the intraday movement, and no Central Bank of Iraq source was cited.
