BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq announced Tuesday it has launched official procedures to cut ties with Hashd al-Shabi and its affiliated structures, forming a central committee to oversee the implementation of the decision.
The committee, chaired by Jawad al-Tlibawi and comprising several senior figures, will manage the inventory of personnel, weapons, vehicles and logistical equipment. It will also regulate direct communication mechanisms with the commander-in-chief within the legal framework.
The group said the decision aligns with calls from religious authorities, the Coordination Framework, and Secretary General Qais al-Khazali's declaration of support for the state project. The Coordination Framework authorized Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief Ali al-Zeydi to take steps protecting the country's interests and endorsed consolidating weapons under state control.
The move follows Muqtada al-Sadr's decision to sever ties between Saraya al-Salam and the state. No further details were immediately available.
