BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Babylon Provincial Council announced Wednesday private generator tariffs and operating schedules for June, establishing three-tier pricing based on service levels.
The standard tier was set at 7,000 dinars per ampere, with generators operating from noon to 4 a.m., alternating with the national electricity supply. The commercial tier costs 9,000 dinars per ampere and runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The premium gold tier costs 12,000 dinars per ampere and provides 24-hour service, also alternating with the national grid. Participation in the gold tier remains voluntary for residents.
Generator owners must maintain two backup units to ensure uninterrupted service. District authorities and neighborhood heads will monitor compliance, with legal action against violators.
Fees must be collected with official receipts. The council said penalties under current law apply for non-compliance with the established rates.
