BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq national team head coach Graham Arnold praised his squad following a 1-1 draw with Spain in a friendly match played in Madrid on Thursday.
The match served as part of Iraq's preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Arnold addressed reporters at the post-match press conference, saying his players showed strong commitment during the encounter.
"We have great players and a great team," Arnold said. "But it is better to have a great team rather than 11 great individuals. Having a big team brings greater success even if those 11 players are not at the same level."
The Australian coach emphasized that building a strong team culture and fostering belief among his players remains a priority as he prepares the squad for the period ahead. He pointed to mental strength as a key factor in developing a cohesive unit capable of performing at major tournaments.
