The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it received a report of a vessel targeted northeast of Aden, 105 nautical miles from the Yemeni port. Two small boats approached within four meters of the ship and opened fire, the agency said in the alert.
UKMTO said the crew was reported safe and issued a caution to all vessels transiting the area, advising careful navigation. The incident was logged under UKMTO advisory 071-26.
The agency noted that several attacks have been recorded in waters off Aden in recent weeks, including unidentified projectiles and unmanned aerial vehicle strikes on commercial vessels. Earlier, UKMTO reported that an RPG had been fired at an oil tanker 111 nautical miles south of Yemen, while on June 10 a boat carrying six armed individuals approached a cargo ship 88 nautical miles northwest of Balhaf before being driven off by the vessel's security team.
