Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law and special envoy, left Israel without securing progress on the American plan to end the war in Gaza, Reuters reported. Two days of talks ended without a breakthrough after Israel and Hamas stuck to their core demands.
Kushner met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after holding talks in Egypt with Hamas political leader Khalil al-Hayya. The meeting with Netanyahu, which lasted about four hours, also involved Nikolai Mladenov, director general of the "Peace Council" for Gaza.
The United States has been increasing pressure to advance to the second phase of Trump's plan. After Kushner's departure, the Israeli military issued a formal order to its troops in Gaza not to move the "Yellow Line" westward, instructing soldiers to document any ceasefire violations by Hamas using their mobile phones. The Yellow Line marks the temporary deployment boundary for Israeli forces under the ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025.
