AMMAN, Jordan โ€” Foreign ministers from Arab League members, Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan and Malaysia adopted a 15-point final communique at a Jerusalem-focused meeting convened in Amman at Jordan's invitation, condemning Israeli policies aimed at altering the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of the occupied city. The communique affirmed that East Jerusalem, based on its 1967 borders, is the capital of the State of Palestine and reiterated support for a two-state solution as the sole path to peace. It stated that the entire 144-dunum area of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, with the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Administration under Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf serving as the exclusive authority. Participants reaffirmed support for Jordan's historical custodianship over the Haram al-Sharif and Christian holy sites, warning that Israeli violations of holy sites would offend the sentiments of nearly two billion Muslims and threaten regional and global peace. The meeting called for urgent action by the UN Security Council and decided to hold a joint ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League in New York in September.
