Anbar council member accuses Martyrs' Foundation chief of targeting the province

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A member of Anbar Provincial Council, Adnan al-Kubaysi, said comments by Martyrs' Foundation head Abdul Amir al-Naibli about fake martyr and wounded files amount to an accusation against the province and its local administration. Speaking in an interview, al-Kubaysi said al-Naibli directly attacked Anbar on a television program, leading to corruption allegations against local institutions. Al-Kubaysi argued that individual irregularities should not be attributed to the entire province, noting that documented records show 17,000 terrorists are listed in the files. He described the dismissal of 160 Foundation employees from Anbar as an attack on the province and called on Iraq's parliament to focus on the case. He recalled that a commission established under a Prime Ministry decision had recommended opening salaries for 6,000 wounded, and alleged that al-Naibli canceled those decisions and filed a lawsuit against the commission. Al-Kubaysi said the irregularities were carried out through a single Foundation employee, whose name would be revealed through documents. According to al-Kubaysi, the file has been sent to the prime minister, the parliament speaker and several lawmakers. He said parliament could take harsher steps against al-Naibli, adding that relevant authorities would pursue the matter through the courts and parliament.
