BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi football club Al-Zawraa has sent its squad to Cairo for pre-season preparations ahead of the 2025-26 Iraqi Premier League season, the club announced. The delegation will hold an external training camp in the Egyptian capital, with the technical staff planning to use the period to raise players' physical and technical conditioning and evaluate the squad before the league begins on August 14.
The Cairo program will include friendly matches alongside regular training sessions, according to the club. Coaches said the focus will be on building cohesion within the squad and sharpening match readiness in the final stretch before competitive play resumes.
Al-Zawraa finished fourth in last season's Iraqi Premier League standings with 66 points. The club has not announced further details of its pre-season schedule or whether additional matches will be arranged after the Cairo camp.
