Acting Iraqi Interior Minister Reviews Kirkuk Checkpoints, Orders Procedure Changes

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Al-Waeli, acting as Iraq's interior minister, inspected the Cimen and Darman checkpoints in Kirkuk on Wednesday. The visit reviewed security personnel work arrangements and passenger transit procedures, according to a ministry statement. Al-Waeli instructed officials to streamline operations and boost revenue collection at the checkpoints. The evaluation noted that services at border crossings and checkpoints require more effective management. The ministry said the adjustments aim to accelerate traffic flow and reduce passenger waiting times. Officials added that the implementation of the instructions and inspection results will be monitored. The inspection was carried out as part of efforts to strengthen security and administrative coordination in Kirkuk.
