AC Milan has sacked head coach Massimiliano Allegri after failing to qualify for the Champions League this season. The club lost 2-1 at home to Cagliari on the final day of Serie A, ending its chance to reach Europe’s top competition.
Allegri returned to Milan in May last year after an 11-year absence. RedBird Capital said it had decided on a broad restructuring together with members of the board.
CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada were also removed from their posts. No further details were immediately available.
