81-Year-Old Actor James Handy Stabbed to Death at Los Angeles Home

LOS ANGELES — Actor James Handy, 81, was stabbed to death at his Los Angeles home, police said. Officers responding to the scene found Handy unconscious in the front yard with multiple stab wounds to the chest. He was pronounced dead at a hospital despite medical intervention. Police arrested Michael Glide Hill, 44, who called emergency services and confessed to the killing, authorities said. Hill told operators "I am the son of man" and "I killed the sinful man" during the call, according to authorities. The suspect, who was staying at the victim's home with his mother at the time of the incident, is the son of Handy's friend. Prosecutors charged Hill with murder and set bail at $2 million. Handy began his acting career in the 1970s and appeared in roughly 150 productions. His film credits include the bartender Jimmy in "Top Gun: Maverick" and a pest control salesman in the 1995 classic "Jumanji."
