Yemen army says Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at Marib

Sana'a, Yemen — Yemen's army said on Saturday evening that Houthi forces launched three ballistic missiles at residential areas in the city of Marib, east of the capital Sana'a. Marib hosts a large displaced population fleeing fighting elsewhere in the country and is also one of Yemen's main energy production hubs. Army spokesman Majid Nazili had earlier said the Houthis struck the port of Mocha on the Bab al-Mandab Strait with six ballistic missiles on Friday night, killing one security officer, leaving two sailors missing and wounding eight civilians. Port authorities said they had suspended commercial and shipping activity on Saturday after the facility was targeted by more than 25 missiles over recent days. The Houthis said on Friday they had fired multiple ballistic missiles at military deployments, weapons stockpiles and warships in the Mocha area of Taiz province. UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg warned that the recent attacks in Mocha, Marib and Hadramaut, which have killed soldiers and civilians, risk returning the country to full-scale war for the first time since a 2022 ceasefire. No immediate details on casualties from the Marib strike were provided in the army statement.
