Weapons cache found on Iraqi lawmaker's farm in Anbar's Hit district

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi security forces seized a stockpile of weapons and military ammunition from a farm belonging to a member of parliament in the Hit district of Anbar province, a security source said on Tuesday. The operation was carried out by a counterterrorism unit deployed from Baghdad, working jointly with the Anbar First Battalion of the provincial police. The raid took place in the Muhammedi area, in western Anbar, where a ground search uncovered a large cache of weapons and military equipment. The source said the farm is owned by a sitting Iraqi lawmaker, without naming the legislator. All the seized weapons and materiel were evacuated from the site, according to the source.
