BAGHDAD, Iraq โ A young man was found dead inside his vehicle in Iraq's southern Dhi Qar province after being struck twice on the head, security sources said. The victim had been reported missing for several days before his body was discovered in the Dudey district. An initial autopsy conducted at the forensic medicine office in Shatra, Najaf, found no signs of foul play, but a brother later noticed head wounds while preparing the body for washing. A second examination concluded that two blows with a sharp object caused his death.
Security forces reviewing surveillance footage determined that individuals on a motorcycle blocked the road and transported the victim's vehicle to a remote area, the sources said. The initial investigation indicates the killing stemmed from a financial dispute.
In a separate incident in the Tahwila area within Diyala's Khales district, unidentified individuals stole cables stretching roughly two kilometers from an electrical line. Authorities said the thieves had been cutting several meters of cable each day for more than a week, eventually accumulating about two kilometers in total length.
