TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Two members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed and two others wounded in an armed attack in the western border city of Bave, according to Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency. The assault occurred during security patrols in the area. Iranian authorities described the incident as a "terrorist attack."
In a separate incident in the same hours, gunmen attacked a checkpoint in the city of Bane in Kurdistan province in northwestern Iran, killing two police officers and wounding three people, including a three-year-old child, according to the same reports.
The attacks come as Tehran has increased security operations along its western border regions. No official statement has been made on whether the two incidents are connected, and no group has claimed responsibility for either attack.
