Two deaths under investigation in Dhi Qar: commercial center fire and hospital fatality

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Authorities in Dhi Qar are investigating two separate deaths recorded Tuesday in the provincial capital Nasiriya, including a large fire at a commercial center and a hospital fatality during childbirth. A fire broke out in the early morning at a food shopping center in the military district of the Euphrates Health Region, according to local security authorities. Four civil defense teams brought the blaze under control, and officials said the material damage was estimated in the tens of millions of dinars. Separately, a woman in her 20s died from excessive bleeding during delivery at Habubi Hospital in Nasiriya, where she was undergoing surgery in the operating room. Her family filed a complaint against the obstetrician and the medical team who handled the procedure, and a criminal investigation has been opened into the incident. In a third unrelated case, a security personnel member in his 50s was found dead at his home in the Fawwad district east of Nasiriya. His body was transferred to the forensic medicine unit to determine the cause of death. No further details were immediately available on the ongoing investigations.
