ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates โ€” Abu Dhabi-based Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) said two of its vessels were attacked on Thursday evening while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The company reported no injuries and said the situation had been brought under control, adding that it stressed the safety of seafarers and freedom of maritime navigation. The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, calling it a "hostile act by Iran" and attributing it to Iran's Revolutionary Guards. The ministry described the targeting of commercial shipping and the use of the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of pressure as an act of piracy, and said the incident amounted to a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, posing a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security. U.S. President Donald Trump had said the day before that the United States had gained "full control" of the strategic waterway. No further details on the attack were immediately available.
