Trump says weighing larger military operation against Iran

TEL AVIV, Israel — WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said he is considering a military operation against Iran larger than the previous one and is close to a decision. "I am working on something much bigger [than before], we are going to make a decision, and we are ready," Trump said. Trump stated that Israel would join a U.S. operation "within two minutes" if requested, but stressed that Washington does not need such assistance. He claimed Iranian officials want to negotiate but are not yet prepared for a deal, arguing Tehran "hasn't suffered enough." On the same day, Trump repeated his warning that any renewed attacks by Iran or the Houthis would meet a heavy military response. Israeli media reported that security assessments of an increased risk of an Iranian missile attack over the weekend prompted the opening of public shelters in central and southern Israel, including in Tel Aviv. Israeli officials have warned that an expanded U.S. operation targeting Iran's strategic infrastructure and senior officials could push Tehran toward a direct retaliation against Israel.
