WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran has informed the United States that it will not collect fees from ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Trump also said Washington has not paid any money to Iran and has not released Iranian assets frozen in the United States.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio launched a three-day diplomatic tour of the Gulf region following an agreement reached last week between Washington and Tehran that ended the fighting. The trip marks the first high-level diplomatic engagement since the deal was concluded.
Rubio did not appear publicly during the final round of talks with Iran; the last negotiations were conducted by U.S. Vice President JD Vance with Iranian officials in Switzerland. The agreement brought to a close a four-month war waged by the United States and Israel against Iran.
