WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump said the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran places no financial obligation on Washington and carries strategic value by preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He added that international parties have no legal authority to block investments in Iran.
Trump said oil prices fell, stock indices rose and gasoline prices declined following the announcement of the deal. He reported that the Strait of Hormuz had been partially reopened and that full operations were expected to resume within two days.
Reiterating that U.S. sanctions on Iran are effective, Trump warned that Washington would intervene again if Iran misbehaved. He also criticized former President Barack Obama, alleging that Iran had deceived the United States during that period and obtained billions of dollars.
