BASRA, Iraq — Transport Minister Vehb el-Hüsni said on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, that his ministry would continue supporting Basra city and its strategic projects during a field visit to the southern city.
Hüsni spoke at a joint news conference with the Basra governor held in the submerged tunnel. He said the government was committed to providing all possible support to fully complete the Grand Faw Port project.
The minister also said he would make every effort for Basra and the Grand Faw Port. His remarks pointed to continued backing for strategic projects in Basra, with the port project featured prominently at the briefing.
Hüsni said support for Basra would be increased alongside the Grand Faw Port project.
