Suspect Arrested for Targeting Shopkeepers in Nasiriyah

NASIRIYAH, Iraq — Security forces have arrested a suspect accused of carrying out a series of thefts targeting shopkeepers in the center of Nasiriyah, Zikar province. According to security sources, Crime Fighting units apprehended the individual after several reports of thefts that had caused concern among local business owners. Investigators determined that the suspect used deception to steal from store owners. The suspect reportedly posed as a regular customer, using distractions or fake phone calls during product procurement to mislead victims before fleeing with money. Security units identified the suspect as being involved in numerous theft incidents, including a recent case where 500,000 Iraqi dinars were stolen from a food vendor. The suspect has been taken into custody for legal proceedings.
