Sulaymaniyah University becomes Kurdistan Region's first state university to earn ISO certification

SULAYMANIYAH, Iraq — The University of Sulaymaniyah announced on Monday that it has received ISO certification in standardization and business management, becoming the first public university in the Kurdistan Region to hold the international accreditation. In a written statement, university president Kosar Mohammed said the institution's administration had earned the ISO certificate, confirming that its management systems meet globally recognized standards. Mohammed said the accreditation places the University of Sulaymaniyah as the first state university in the Kurdistan Region to receive ISO certification in the field. Founded in 1968, the University of Sulaymaniyah is among the oldest higher education institutions in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. It has previously ranked first among Iraqi universities in the Nature Index international ranking, according to the university's statement.
