TEHRAN, Iran โ Iranian state television reported explosions in several cities across the country's south, including Sirik in Hormozgan Province, where blasts were also recorded near the village of Ziyaret. The same broadcaster said explosion sounds were also heard in the cities of Ahvaz and Ramshir in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
The reports come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. Iranian state television recalled that on July 8, U.S. President Donald Trump declared that a ceasefire reached with Iran on the night of June 18 was no longer in effect. The broadcaster also said Trump accused Tehran of targeting three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
No further details on casualties, damage or the cause of the blasts were immediately available.
