DOHA, Qatar โ€” Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari said the country supports the ongoing diplomatic process between the United States and Iran, describing the current agreement as a first step toward a broader understanding that would secure regional stability and the safety of maritime navigation. Speaking in Doha, al-Ansari said Qatar has contributed to narrowing differences between Washington and Tehran within the framework of Pakistan-led mediation, while clarifying that Doha is not a direct mediator but part of the supporting team. The spokesperson expressed confidence that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened and that freedom of navigation will be ensured under the expected memorandum of understanding. He firmly denied that Qatar had made any financial payments linked to the agreement and said global coordination is underway on the economic implications. Al-Ansari also confirmed that no direct talks have taken place between the US and Iran in Doha, with contacts continuing through Pakistani mediation. He said Qatar will be represented at a meeting scheduled to be held in Geneva and that consultations with the parties are ongoing. On Gaza, al-Ansari said Qatar continues to work toward ending the war and implementing the related agreements. He described Israel's attacks on Lebanon as a violation of Lebanese sovereignty and called for the preservation of regional stability.
