BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) said Monday that their units captured a wanted Islamic State (ISIS) member during an operation in the Mosul Plain.
In a written statement, the PMF's Mosul Operations Command said the 30th Brigade Intelligence Section detained the suspect at one of the entry points to the Mosul Plain after field monitoring and intelligence work. The suspect had been sought by judicial authorities under Article 4 of the country's counter-terrorism law and was identified through extensive intelligence efforts, the statement added.
According to the PMF, the detainee was handed over to the competent authorities after initial questioning and will be tried according to legal procedures. The force did not release the suspect's name in the statement.
No further details on the operation were immediately available.
