BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) said the funeral convoy for Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will pass through the holy city of Karbala on Wednesday, with the body scheduled to be buried in Iran's Mashhad on Thursday.
According to the PMF statement, the convoy will travel from Tehran to the Iranian city of Qom before crossing into Iraq, with Karbala serving as one of the stops on the final journey. The PMF said it released details of the planned route through the city and the accompanying security arrangements.
PMF officials added that security coordination along the convoy's path during the procession will be managed by the relevant units. The convoy is set to follow the Karbala-based program before departing for its return to Iran, the statement said.
