NAJAF, Iraq โ The Najaf Provincial Council has unanimously approved 750 million dinars in support for the city's Cancer Diseases Center from the budget of Najaf International Airport. According to a council statement, the decision followed a hearing with Najaf Health Directorate Deputy Director General Mufid Abu Ghanim and center director Haidar al-Shibli, during which they discussed the facility's medical needs.
The council said the funding is intended to strengthen the center's medical and treatment capacity. It noted that it had previously allocated 500 million dinars to the center this year, bringing total support to 1.25 billion dinars.
Earlier, center director al-Shibli said on social media that the facility was facing shortages of medicines, medical supplies and financing, and appealed to citizens and relevant institutions for donations. The council said the center also serves patients from cities in the Awtar region.
No further details on the disbursement timeline were immediately available.
