MOSUL, Iraq โ Factory owners and industrialists gathered outside the Nineveh Chamber of Commerce building in Mosul to protest obstacles they say threaten the continuity of the city's industrial sector. The demonstrators called on the government to intervene urgently to safeguard production lines and employment.
Nineveh Chamber of Commerce head Mohammed Mashhadani said the chamber fully backs the industrialists' demands. In an address directed at the Nineveh governor and the head of the Iraqi Federation of Industries, Mashhadani urged authorities to address the sector's challenges.
Mashhadani said that abrupt and poorly assessed legal regulations introduced under the previous government have hurt production, import and export processes. He warned that if those policies continue, local factories could face a complete standstill and called for the decisions to be reviewed.
