MOSUL, Iraq โ Health authorities in Nineveh province confirmed a new hemorrhagic fever case in Mosul after laboratory results returned positive on Thursday, the provincial health directorate said. The patient, a 39-year-old man, sought treatment as a suspected case at Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital in the Bab al-Jadid area before blood samples were sent to the Central Public Health Laboratory in Baghdad for testing.
Following the positive result, the patient was transferred to al-Shifa Hospital, which is designated for infectious diseases, and placed under the established treatment protocol. Health officials said the case is being closely monitored and that contacts of the patient are being traced.
The confirmation comes two days after a separate case was identified in a 21-year-old patient from Mosul's Kokjali neighborhood. Health sources said the total number of confirmed hemorrhagic fever cases in Nineveh has risen to seven in recent weeks, including an 11-year-old child from the Beyachi district west of Mosul.
