Man seriously wounds wife, kills young man in Erbil's Kushitepe area

ERBIL, Iraq — A man seriously wounded his wife and killed a 22-year-old man with a firearm and a knife at their shared home in the Kushitepe subdistrict of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, according to a source in the Erbil Provincial Police Directorate. The source said the suspect first opened fire on the 22-year-old, then stabbed him, causing his death at the scene. The man's 32-year-old wife was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to hospital, where she was placed in intensive care. The source identified the three people involved as spouses and the young man killed, all of Arab origin and from the Sharqat district in Saladin province. Police secured the scene and launched a broad investigation. Efforts to arrest the suspect were ongoing.
