Man killed in armed attack in eastern Dhi Qar

DHI QAR, Iraq — A 60-year-old man was killed in an armed attack in the district of Islah, east of Nasiriyah, the capital of Dhi Qar province, a security source at the Dhi Qar Police Directorate said. According to the source, two gunmen on a motorcycle carried out the attack in the center of Islah district. Security forces launched an investigation, collected evidence at the scene and opened an operation to locate the assailants. The man's body was transferred to the forensic medicine department for an autopsy and to complete legal procedures. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and police said they are continuing efforts to clarify the circumstances. Dhi Qar security authorities said they will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
