LONDON — Liverpool have agreed a deal with Rennes to sign French under-21 center back Jeremie Jaque for a reported £60 million (about $79 million), PA Media reported. The 20-year-old reached a verbal agreement with the Premier League club in January and has signed a five-year contract with an option to extend by a further 12 months.
Jaque missed the final stretch of the season in France after undergoing shoulder surgery in February. He is expected to return to fitness at the start of Liverpool's pre-season preparations.
Speaking on the club's website, Jaque said joining Liverpool was a dream for him and that he was very happy to arrive. The defender came through Rennes' academy and made 33 appearances for the senior side before spending the 2024/2025 campaign on loan at Clermont.
