BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Kuwait's Defense Ministry said on Friday that it shot down a number of Iranian drones after they entered Kuwaiti airspace. Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said Iranian drones targeted some strategic and military sites in the country but were destroyed by countermeasures, adding that falling debris caused material damage with no casualties reported. The ministry said Kuwait's armed forces coordinated with relevant units to take all necessary measures to protect the country's sovereignty. It did not immediately identify which facilities were struck by debris or provide further operational details. Separately, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said on Friday that it had targeted two oil tankers attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz through what it described as an "undeclared route." Iran's army also said it struck U.S. military facilities and equipment at the Ahmed al-Jabir Base in Kuwait with drones in the early hours of Friday morning. Kuwait did not immediately confirm the Iranian army's claim regarding the base.
