KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait — KUWAIT — Kuwait's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday evening that four ballistic missiles and 21 drones entering the country's airspace had been detected and intercepted since dawn. Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Atwan said in a written statement that the attacks, originating from Iran, targeted several critical facilities inside Kuwait and caused material damage, though no casualties were reported. Al-Atwan added that the Kuwaiti Armed Forces would continue their operations without interruption to safeguard national security and protect citizens and residents. A separate statement, issued as No. 73 by the Kuwaiti Army's official account, confirmed that all missiles and drones entering Kuwaiti airspace had been neutralized. Iran has directed missile and drone strikes at Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan in recent days and has targeted oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the statement. The regional conflict, which began in February 2026 with U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran, was largely halted by a ceasefire agreement in April, but Iranian attacks around the Strait of Hormuz have reignited hostilities.
