Kuwait rejects report it joined military operations against Iran

WASHINGTON, United States — Kuwait has denied reports that it took part in military operations against Iran, calling the claims "entirely baseless" in a formal letter to The Wall Street Journal. According to KUNA, Washington's ambassador, Sheikh Zein Al-Sabah, wrote to the newspaper's editorial board over a July 24 article by Summer Said and Shelby Holliday titled "Bahrain, Kuwait Warplanes Struck Iran in Rare Gulf Retaliation." The ambassador said Kuwait did not participate in any military operation against Iran and that its territory, airspace and territorial waters were not used to attack any neighboring country. The letter said Kuwait's approach to the regional crisis is grounded in respect for international law, the protection of state sovereignty, good-neighborly relations and the resolution of disputes through dialogue.
