Kurdistan Region says tax, state property revenues topped 5.4 trillion dinars over seven years

ERBIL, Iraq — The Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Finance and Economy said revenues from taxes and state-owned real estate reached 5 trillion 415 billion 30 million dinars between 2019 and the end of 2025, a seven-year span. The ministry said the figures were released as part of the second section of its working report, published in line with stated principles of transparency and reform. According to the statement, a series of administrative, financial and legal reforms were carried out in coordination with the Prime Ministry and the judiciary to regulate tax procedures and curb tax evasion. The ministry listed measures including the digitalization of tax processes and state property records, the regulation of import and export duties at border crossings, the classification of large taxpayer companies, a review and cancellation of tax exemptions granted to investment projects, and a comprehensive inventory of state-owned real estate. The report also noted that Erbil accounted for the largest share of the revenues, citing its status as the regional capital and the main base of major companies. The first section of the report, released on Saturday, had previously stated that actual budget expenditures in the Kurdistan Region exceeded 87 trillion dinars over the same seven-year period.
