Kurdistan Region launches social dialogue platform with workers and employers

ERBIL, Iraq — The Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has launched the Kurdistan Social Dialogue Platform together with worker and employer organizations. The ministry described the initiative as a tripartite institutional framework aimed at strengthening dialogue, consultation and cooperation on labor, economic and social policies. Speaking at the launch ceremony in Erbil, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Koyistan Mohammed said the platform will bring together the government, worker representatives and employers under a single structure to coordinate their participation in resolving labor issues. He added that it was established under a project supported by the International Labour Organization and financed by the European Union. The platform's stated objectives include reviewing and updating labor legislation, providing guidance to relevant institutions, strengthening union rights and activities, and ensuring the effective implementation of international labor standards.
