Kurdistan Region Interior Ministry finalizes draft code of conduct for police

ERBIL, Iraq — The Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Interior has completed a draft code of conduct regulating police interactions with citizens, following three days of intensive talks. Ministry Director General of the Diwan Heyman Mirani told a press conference in Erbil that the draft covers discipline, modern equipment and technological systems. Mirani said the regulation was prepared in line with the Kurdistan Parliament's existing legal framework governing the Interior Ministry. According to the official, the three-day discussions focused on regulating direct relations between police and the public, and did not address internal administrative matters of the security apparatus. The draft aims to align police services with contemporary standards, Mirani said. No further details on the timeline for parliamentary review or implementation were immediately available.
