Kirkuk Governor Mohammed Simaan Agha announced plans to initiate official approvals for the recruitment of 4,000 graduates to work with BP in the region's oil sector following the Eid al-Adha holiday.
The local administration is currently conducting high-level consultations with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, the federal government in Baghdad, and the British Embassy to secure employment opportunities for the local population within these petroleum projects.
Under the proposed agreement, 85% of the 4,000 positions will be reserved for Kirkuk residents, while the remaining slots will be filled by external specialists selected by the company based on technical requirements.
A joint committee has been established to ensure the equitable distribution of these roles among the province's Turkmen, Kurdish, and Arab communities.
Additionally, the governor stated that the administration is coordinating with the Ministries of Finance and Planning to resume several suspended public service projects.
