Karkh salvage 2-2 draw at Kirkuk in Iraqi Premier League

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Karkh came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Kirkuk in a fourth-round Iraqi Premier League match played at Captain Shrar Haidar Stadium in the capital on Monday night. Kirkuk went into halftime with a 2-0 lead after Ahmed Ayid scored in the 37th minute and Brazilian striker Diego Santos converted a penalty in the 43rd. Karkh cut the deficit in the 65th minute through Ibrahim Tandia and completed the comeback when Mamoudou Soro found the net in the sixth minute of stoppage time. The late equalizer denied Kirkuk what would have been their second win of the season. Kirkuk now have three points and sit 15th in the standings, while Karkh earned their first point of the campaign and remain bottom of the table. The match kicked off at 22:30 local time.
