BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Kerbela Provincial Council called on the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday to cancel traffic fines issued to drivers due to errors in the electronic monitoring system. In a statement, the council said it formally submitted the recommendation to the deputy interior minister following an extraordinary session held to address the issue.
The fines resulted from malfunctions in the electronic traffic enforcement application, according to the statement. The council also requested that traffic fine enforcement in Kerbela be suspended until camera systems are installed and operational in all cities across Iraq.
The council further decided to initiate legal proceedings against the General Traffic Director within the scope of his official responsibilities. It also resolved to protect the rights of affected citizens through legal and administrative channels.
