Jordan says air defenses intercepted three missiles fired from Iran

AMMAN, Jordan — Jordan's armed forces said air defense systems intercepted and destroyed three missiles fired from Iranian territory after they entered Jordanian airspace, according to a military statement issued Monday. A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces said the missiles were brought down in the evening and that no casualties or material damage were reported. The source said Royal Engineering Corps teams had begun working at the impact sites and secured the areas under standard technical and safety procedures. The armed forces added that Jordan monitors its airspace around the clock and is maintaining operational readiness against any threat to the country's security, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The statement stressed that no compromise would be made in responding to threats under the established rules of engagement, and urged citizens to rely on official statements from authorities rather than rumors. In a related development, sirens were heard in several parts of Jordan on Monday evening along with reports of loud explosions across multiple locations.
