Jordan's exports to Iraq edge up in early 2026, imports from Iraq plunge 60.5%

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Jordanian foreign trade data shows that exports to Iraq held nearly steady in the first five months of 2026, while imports from Iraq fell sharply compared with the same period a year earlier. Jordan's exports to Iraq totaled 381 million Jordanian dinars during the period, up from 377 million dinars in the first five months of 2025, a rise of 1.1%, according to the figures. Imports from Iraq dropped to 32 million Jordanian dinars, down from 81 million dinars in the comparable 2025 period, a 60.5% decline. The figures, drawn from Jordan's external trade records, point to a widening trade imbalance between the two neighbors, with Iraqi goods flowing into Jordan at a far slower pace than the year before. Bilateral trade between the two countries continues to operate under the Regional Trade Movement framework. Officials have also noted that the exchange rate stands at roughly 70 Jordanian dinars per 100 U.S. dollars.
