AMMAN, Jordan โ€” Jordan's Anti-Narcotics Department, operating under the National Security Directorate, said it detained nine suspects, including one with international connections, in operations conducted in Amman and other cities. Investigators said a traveler of Arab nationality was caught with six liters of liquid cocaine in luggage upon entering the country through Queen Alia International Airport. Separately, 150,000 narcotic pills concealed in the spare tire of a cargo vehicle were seized at the Jaber border crossing with Syria through coordinated work by anti-narcotics teams. In the northern city of Mafraq, a separate raid led to the arrest of an armed suspect linked to regional drug-trafficking networks and classified as a mafia-type figure. In Amman, authorities discovered a home converted into a greenhouse used to cultivate 2,300 cannabis seedlings, according to the statement. In Balqa, an additional 9,000 narcotic pills were confiscated and two drug dealers were taken into custody. The department said operations were continuing as investigations proceeded.
