The Israeli military said an airstrike in the Jabalia area of northern Gaza killed Muhammad Marwan Muhammad Salim, head of military security for Hamas's Jabalia Central Brigade, along with several other senior figures in the group. Those killed in the same operation included Abdulmalik Abu al-Jabayn, a member of a Hamas elite unit and head of an investigations unit in the group's police apparatus; brigade member Yamen Muhammad Jibril Ubayd; and Gassan Akram Salama al-Dakhs, a member of the West Jabalia Brigade who also served actively in Hamas's police force. The military said the individuals had been meeting and planning together in recent periods and were targeted in order to remove what it described as a threat. On Tuesday, Gaza saw successive Israeli airstrikes and artillery fire targeting police posts, tent encampments sheltering displaced civilians and residential areas. Gaza's Health Ministry said hospitals received eight dead and 32 wounded over the previous 24 hours. It added that the total death toll since a ceasefire took effect on November 11 had risen to 1,108, with 3,578 wounded, and that 800 bodies had been recovered from under the rubble.
