Israeli army says it killed senior Hamas commander and two members in Gaza

The Israeli army said it killed Muhanned Asad Mahmoud Abu Ghazal, described as a senior Hamas cell commander, along with Nibhan Mohammed Nibhan al-Amsi, a department head in the group's intelligence unit, in operations carried out last week in central Gaza. The military also said Raid Hani Mohammed al-Amsi, who it said served in an air reconnaissance unit in Gaza, was killed in a separate airstrike in the northern part of the territory. According to the Israeli army, Abu Ghazal infiltrated Kibbutz Kissufim during the October 7, 2023 Al-Aqsa Flood attack, and the other individuals killed were involved in planning operations against Israeli forces during the war. The military said the targets were struck with "precise airstrikes" to eliminate what it described as threats. The army added that troops under its southern command were deployed in line with a ceasefire agreement and would continue operations against any sudden threats in the area.
