TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Tuesday that it struck a US air base in Jordan with ballistic missiles during the third stage of the second wave of its "Nasr 2" operation, according to the Fars news agency. The IRGC said the base was among facilities US forces had used for attacks on Iran, and claimed the same bases were previously used in a school attack in Minab that killed 186 children.
In a message addressed to the Jordanian public, the IRGC said Iran harbors no hostility toward the Jordanian people, calling them among the nations that best understand the suffering of the Palestinian people. The statement also said the removal of US military bases from the region would contribute to the liberation of Palestinians and the restoration of security.
Separately, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported powerful explosions at the Muwaffaq al-Salti air base in eastern Jordan shortly before the IRGC announcement. The Jordanian Armed Forces said through the state-run Petra news agency that four missiles launched from Iran were intercepted in the morning.
The competing accounts could not be independently verified. No further details on damage or casualties were immediately available.
